The FiDi Pizza Trail: My Rankings vs. What Everyone Else Is Saying

My ongoing FiDi pizza tour just got a lot more interesting. I’ve been rating every walkable slice shop near the World Trade Center out of 10, but this round I wanted to see how my palate stacks up against Google, Yelp, and Dave Portnoy’s OneBite community. Turns out I agree with the crowd more often than not — but there are a few spots where my take and Dave’s couldn’t be further apart. Here’s the full breakdown, still ranked highest to lowest, still growing as I keep eating.

Why Compare Notes With the Internet

Rating pizza is personal. Crust preference, sauce sweetness, how much cheese pull you need to feel satisfied — everyone’s dial is set differently, and Dave Portnoy’s dial is famously not everyone’s dial. So this round of the FiDi trail isn’t just my score. For each spot, I’m telling you what I thought, then checking it against Google reviewers, Yelp, and the OneBite community (and Dave himself, when he’s actually weighed in). Some places, we’re all in lockstep. Others, I think the crowd — or Dave — got it wrong.

The Rankings So Far

9/10 — Kesté Pizza e Vino, Fulton Street
I really enjoyed the technique here — the char, the balance, the fact that it tastes like actual Neapolitan pizza and not a New York imitation of one. Most Google and Restaurant Guru reviewers agree, throwing around phrases like “best pizza outside of Naples.” Interestingly, Dave’s own OneBite score sits at a 6.4, well below the community average of 7.7 — proof that even the guy with 1,000+ reviews under his belt doesn’t always match the room.

8.5/10 — Jay’s Pizza, Chambers Street
Jay’s nails the classic New York slice — crisp edges, foldable, sauce that doesn’t overpower. The OneBite community backs this up with a 7.3 rating, and reviewers consistently point to the quality flour and ingredients Jay’s sources. This is one of the few spots where nobody seems to disagree with anybody.

8/10 — Abitino’s Pizza, Broadway
I gave Abitino’s high marks for a dependable, well-executed classic slice, and plenty of Google and Wanderlog reviewers call it one of their favorite FiDi stops. Where opinions split a bit is on the crust — some online reviewers of Abitino’s other locations describe it as merely “average,” while I found this Broadway location’s crust noticeably crisper. Location clearly matters with this one.

7.5/10 — Pizza Etalia, Beaver Street
I found this a solid, consistent classic slice — nothing flashy, but reliable. The OneBite community disagreed more than I expected, landing at a 6.4 with several reviewers calling it a “greasebomb” with a tough, chewy crust. I didn’t get that same impression, so consider this one a case where my slice may have just been a better batch than theirs.

7.5/10 — Little Italy Pizza, Park Place
This spot earns points from me for a good crust-to-cheese ratio and a sauce with a bit more personality than its neighbors. The OneBite community is genuinely split on this one — reviews range from “solid slice, I’d check it out” to complaints about a sauce that “blends in unnoticeable.” My experience landed closer to the positive end.

📍 Little Italy Pizza | 45 Park Pl, New York, NY ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

7/10 — Rosella’s Pizzeria, William Street
Rosella’s was a comfortable, well-made slice for me, but nothing that pushed it to the top. Dave Portnoy actually reviewed this one himself and gave it a 7.9 overall, singling out the grandma pie at an 8.3 and noting the sauce’s sweetness — though he also called out a major “flop” issue on the regular slices, which tracks with my experience too.

📍 Rosella’s Pizzeria | 164 William St, New York, NY ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

7/10 — Stage Door Pizza, Vesey Street
Stage Door was a solid, no-weaknesses classic slice for me, and this is the rare spot where every source lines up almost perfectly. Dave gave it a 7.4 on OneBite, the community landed at a 7.0, and reviewers on both platforms note the same thing I did — order a whole pie if you can, since individual slices can be a little less consistent.

📍 Stage Door Pizza | 26 Vesey St, 2nd Floor, New York, NY ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

6.5/10 — Marinara Pizza, West Broadway
I liked this one fine but found the crust a touch softer than I prefer. Online reviews of this West Broadway location are genuinely mixed — one Tribeca Citizen commenter called the pizza “boring and generic,” while others reported solid, fresh pies. This is a spot where consistency seems to be the real issue, not flavor.

📍 Marinara Pizza | 130 W Broadway, New York, NY ⭐️⭐️⭐️

6.5/10 — Siena Pizza & Cannoli, Rector Street
I found the pizza fine but unremarkable, especially next to the cannoli this place is known for. Interestingly, when Dave reviewed Siena, several OneBite community members pushed back hard, with one writing, “Way underrated, I think Dave was having issues when he reviewed.” A DoorDash reviewer even rated the cheese slice a 7.8, calling it “surprisingly good for FiDi.” I’m somewhere in the middle — good, not great.

📍 Siena Pizza & Cannoli | 14 Rector St, New York, NY ⭐️⭐️⭐️

6.5/10 — Tradita’s Pizza, Maiden Lane
Tradita’s was a fine, middle-of-the-road slice for me, and this is another spot where I’m right in line with the numbers. Dave gave it a 7.1 on OneBite, the community landed at 7.3, and the most common word across reviews — mine included — is “average.” Nobody’s mad at Tradita’s. Nobody’s blown away either.

What This Comparison Taught Me

The biggest takeaway from lining my scores up against Dave’s and the community’s: consensus is rare. Kesté split hardest, with Dave scoring it well below both the community and me. Siena split the other way, with the community defending it against a lower Dave score. Stage Door and Tradita’s were the closest three-way matches on the whole list. Pizza, it turns out, really is subjective — even for the professionals.

More to Come

This trail keeps growing, and so will this comparison. Every new stop gets the same treatment: my score, then a gut check against Google, Yelp, and OneBite. If you’ve got a favorite FiDi slice I haven’t hit yet — or you think I’m dead wrong about one of these — that’s exactly the kind of tip that gets this list updated.
